He made his debut at fashion week in India with his Spring Summer '07 collection in October 2006. He works and resides in Hyderabad, India. The Anand Kabra label is an eloquent blend of juxtapositions. It's a dialogue that embraces one's heritage but imagines it within modernism. It's a compelling contemporary aesthetic that is born from a mellifluous ethos. Melding maximal vibrancy with effortless elegance, the collections are a play of the sensual and the serene. The label's raison d'etre is its ability to tell a story through vivid colours, brush stroked graphics or prints in bloom and exquisite embellishment. As it also does with its contrasting monastic composed counterparts. A strong thematic drives each collection where the accent is on instinct, emotion, intimacy and always unfailingly, femininity.
MARK Rimell's dual bumper winner Sherwani Wolf headlined Brightwells' Stars Of The Future Sale after racing at Cheltenham on Friday night when bought for £135,000 by first time owner Charles Davies.
The five-year-old, who scored at Plumpton in December and again at Chepstow last Wednesday, is set to join Nigel Twiston-Davies after Davies, a Shropshire-born but London-based stockbroker, outbid first Highflyer Bloodstock's Anthony Bromley and then Aiden Murphy.
"My parents had a good horse called Masterplan, trained by Pamela Sykes and ridden by Sam Morshead, and I got the racing bug early," said Davies.
"This is my firsthorse and wanted to wait and try and start with something good. I chose Nigel and Carl (Llewellyn) because they are the best about. You just visit the yard and it's such great entertainment and they work so well together."
Llewellyn added: "We were looking for a horse that could go into the top bracket and he was the pick of the sale. We may run him in another bumper before going jumping because the way he won the other day you'd think he might win again."
Warwickshire agent Aiden Murphy made his mark two lots into the sale when paying £62,000 for Present To You - who having been unsold at £48,000 at Cheltenham's April Sale - has subsequently gone on to advertise his talents for owner Wilson Dennison.
The four-year-old won a point-to-point at Ballingarry in June and - having joined Henrietta Knight - finished fourth in a bumper at Ascot a fortnight ago.
"I tried to buy him earlier in the year after he won his point-to-point and I'm pleased to get him now. He's a lovely horse and going to Philip Hobbs," said Murphy.
Five days after Soldier Bay won a Ffos Las bumper on his debut for Rod Millman, three-year-old Soldier Bay was bought for £60,000 for jockey turned agent Tom Malone to join County Meath handler Robbie Hennessy.
"He's a lovely animal and I went down to ride him on Wednesday. He's a big raw three-year-old and can only improve and I think the four-year-old bumper here in January is a likely target," said Malone.
Locally-based Clive Bennett, who has team of point-to-pointers near Newent in Gloucestershire, paid £50,000 for four-year-old Mention To Me, a pointing winner at Loughbrickland for Michael Murphy last month and the Anshan gelding looks set to continue racing between the flags.
"He was a cracking horse with plenty of bone and I'm 99 per cent sure he'll start off in point-to-points," said Bennett. "I expect him to go on to hunter chase and hope he could run under Rules, I have a permit but tend to under use it because I prefer pointing and hunter chasing.
"I bought him on the advice of Richard Pugh (who runs the p2p.ie website) and my vet Ben Brain and have nine at home.
"I went over to Ireland a couple of weeks ago to look at some horses in the sale but didn't like them and this was the only one I wanted here. I hate buying at public auction and think I've only ever got one at the sales before - my wife Eileen bought I Am Said I at Doncaster."
There was a packed crowd for the second sale in Cheltenham's new auction ring and the evening turned over £906,5000 for 23 sold, 4.5 per cent up on last year when just 13 lots found new homes.
There was a solid 72 per cent clearance rate although - largely due to the increased number sold - the £39,413 average dropped by 42 per cent and the £36,000 median by 45 per cent.
Matt Mitchell, Brightwells' Head of Bloodstock, commented: "The new sales arena has shown its ability to capture the unique atmosphere that Cheltenham creates. The sale was very solid with quality selling very well.
"There was a good diversity of purchasers, reflecting the different price levels achieved, and from tonight's trade it appears that the market correction for form horses has now plateaued.
